In our society today, people are drinking caffeine to stay awake and then taking pills to help sleep at night. Moreover, many women and mothers are medicated with anti-depressants to help get through their day – this is noted all throughout history. What if all the crutches were taken away? Would your body resort back to the original circadian rhythm? Would your hormones level out and produce the correct cortisol level at the right times of day if you fed your body the nutrients it needs?

You would have to choose those things that bring you joy and satisfaction to focus on. Not the following topics:

  • how many times you went to the gym this week
  • how efficient your co-worker may be
  • decorate your home or landscaping
  • what pictures are being posted

The pressure would be lifted and guess what…you would get to just live your life! Remember, you are a person too. How wonderful does this sound? We can only handle so much. We need to be aware of our limitations and keep what makes us feel fulfilled inside. Our brain’s purpose is to interpret and create thoughts, decisions and judgments. Sometimes those thoughts are not true or are only just your emotional perception.

Try this, write down something your brain is thinking about a decision or situation that has risen. Read over your thoughts on paper. Do your thoughts match the reality of the situation? Remember, humans are very egotistical by nature so we think people are thinking about us more than they truly are. But in reality, your neighbor isn’t obsessing over how tall your grass is this week. Put that to rest and mow the lawn when you have time. Try making a priority list and post it somewhere you are often, maybe your bathroom mirror or refrigerator.

Strategies to Reduce Stress

No one wants you to stress about what gift you are purchasing for Christmas, they just want to be a part of your company and enjoy YOU! Our species thrives on family, community and belonging. Stress is created in our mind by the way we interpret and perceive a stimulus.

What is stressful to you may not be stressful to a close friend. It is all about perception and when you take a step back and look at the situation with an unbiased mind, it completely changes the outcome.

If you are struggling with stress here are some options to help you manage any physical manifestations you may experience:

  • overeating
  • jitters
  • racing heartbeat
  • sweating
  • anxiety
  • heart palpitations
  • sleep deprivation
  • and more

Adult Coloring Therapy for Stress

Groundbreaking research in 2005 proved anxiety levels dropped when subjects colored mandalas, which are round frames with geometric patterns inside. Simply doodling, though, had no effect in reducing the other subjects’ stress levels.

Just like meditation, adult coloring also allows us to switch off our brains from other thoughts and focus only on the moment, helping to alleviate free-floating anxiety. Those participants who are more guarded find a lot of tranquility in coloring an image. It feels safer and it creates containment around their process.

Acupuncture & Needle-less Acupuncture (Red/Blue Laser or Electric Stimulus)

Electronic acupuncture blocks the chronic, stress-induced elevations of the HPA axis hormones and the sympathetic Neuropeptide Y (NPY) pathway. A growing body of evidence points to acupuncture’s protective effect against the stress response.

The experience of acupuncture is, quite pleasant and relaxing. Once the needles are in, the patient lies quietly on the table with low lighting, calming music playing and often with aromatherapy incorporated into the process. The patients leave feeling much more at ease and calm.

Needle-less Acupuncture:

Dr. Baker has a Stimplus Pro acupuncture tool which provides the exact point location and microcurrent treatment for your body. The tool uses an electronic current and is completely painless. This is both effective and non-invasive. The use of a laser is another option to the needle-less acupuncture.
